Flour Tortillas. Mexican Cuisine!

Wonderful and easy recipe.

Takes a bit of time to roll properly, but the shape does’t affect the taste. Some of mine came out square , but so delicious.


Plain flour- 3 cups.

Butter- 90 g cut in 1 cm cubes.

Salt- 1/2 teaspoon

Baking powder- 1/2 teaspoon.

Hot water-1 and 1/2 cup.


In a bowl mix flour with salt and baking powder. Add butter and start mixing with your hands. I would imagine you can do it in a food processor, but i like using my hands for this recipe, as it doesn’t take long and quite pleasurable.Mix until the ingredients well combined.

Now make a hole in the center and add 1/4 of your water and mix, as the water is very hot, i recommend using a fork. keep mixing and adding water, till a nice dough formed. At this stage you can use your hands and kneed it for a 2- 3 minuets.

Shape it as a log, cut into 16 pieces. roll each piece into a ball and put into a container covered with a wet towel for an hour.

Heat a pan (no oil needed).

I recommend rolling it on a baking paper.

Heat the pan to high, place a tortilla and turn after 20 seconds.Keep on turning till brown in places.

Store in a tortilla warmer, i don’t have one, i am using plate lined with a kitchen towel and a plate on top.
