Split pea and smoked hock soup!

Heartwarming food, especially during cold weather. For some reason the flavours are not comparable to anything else.

And this is the day David Bowie died. RIP Legend, we will never forget you!

Ingredients:

Smoked hock- 1 kg piece

Yellow split peas-250 g or one cup

Onion-1 chopped

Carrot-1 grated

Potatoes-3 peeled,chopped

Tomato paste-1 tablespoon .

Salt, pepper to taste.

Oil

Directions:

Boil the hock for 2-2.5 hours till falls of the bone. Take aside to cool.

Fry chopped onion for 3 minutes add carrot and cook till soften. Add tomato paste, stir, cook for further 2 minutes. Set aside.

Into the broth, add peas and cook for half an hour, add potatoes and cook till peas and potatoes are soft.

Take a meat of the hock, chop it and return to the soup together with onions and carrots. Cook for 30 more minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Serve on a plate and garnish with coriander.
